Expanding DFI practice through lessons: Applying conflict sensitivity and building resilience through private sector investment
Join us on 26 May at 2pm BST / 4pm EAT / 9am ET to discuss the findings from a new report on applying conflict sensitivity in conflict-affected settings (FCAS).
FCAS are increasingly central to development finance institutions’ (DFIs) mandates. They are where extreme poverty, demographic pressure, climate vulnerability and displacement converge – and where the need for private investment is greatest. The challenge, and the opportunity, for DFIs is how to invest in these environments in a commercially viable way that supports resilience and stability.
This webinar presents findings from a new report in the Africa Resilience Investment Accelerator’s (ARIA) Foundations of Growth series, developed with IFC, Proparco, British International Investment, FMO and INCAS Consulting. The report (which will be published ahead of the event) explores how DFIs can apply conflict sensitivity across the investment lifecycle and provides a practical framework for stronger investment decisions and more resilient outcomes in FCAS.
Our speakers will cover:
How conflict sensitivity complements, and can go beyond, ESG compliance frameworks
How DFIs can take a more proactive approach to maximising positive impact in FCAS through analytics and country strategy
How to integrate conflict-sensitive analysis across the investment lifecycle
The role of technical assistance in building client capacity in FCAS
Practical tools and approaches drawn from recent DFI experiences

Foundations of Growth webinar: Reaching small and growing businesses in frontier markets
Small and growing businesses are the backbone of economies in frontier markets across Africa. They create jobs, strengthen local supply chains and spark innovation. Despite their critical role, these businesses face a $330 billion funding gap – this can hold back entrepreneurship and slow economic development.
A new Foundations of Growth publication from the Africa Resilience Investment Accelerator (ARIA) explores how locally managed SME investment funds can help close this gap, and the ways development finance institutions (DFIs) and impact investors can work with them.
Join us on Thursday 13 November, as we dig deeper into some of the findings of the report. You'll hear from the report's authors - Investisseurs et Partenaires (I&P) and the Collaborative for Frontier Finance (CFF) - as well as representatives from FMO, the Dutch entrepreneurial development bank, and ARIA.
This event took place on 13 November 2025. You can watch a recording of the webinar here.
