Ethiopia's financial sector has significant potential to attract international investment. However, there has been a critical challenge. Without standardised environmental, social and governance (ESG) guidelines, there has been a mismatch between development finance institutions’ (DFIs) expectations on ESG and Ethiopian financial institutions’ capacity to deliver on those expectations.

British International Investment has committed $5 million in debt financing to e-mobility business, Dodai, as part of the company's $13 million Series A round. ARIA supported the deal.

Zvilo, a working capital lender, is partnering with So Pure to support the scale of treatment and distribution of safe drinking water across Sierra Leone.  The investment follows support from ARIA and our partners.

ARIA is proud to announce a new strategic partnership with PROPARCO, the private sector financing arm of the Agence française de développement Group (AFD Group). PROPARCO joins the platform as a funding partner alongside British International Investment (BII), the UK’s development finance institution and impact investor, and FMO, the Dutch entrepreneurial development bank.

We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the British Embassy Addis Ababa.

A year ago, ARIA was just an idea, and its member DFIs were wondering how to get started on ARIA's goal of collaborating towards an increased investment footprint in frontier markets. 2022 ended up being a packed year with numerous collective achievements. We are looking forward to seeing what 2023 brings!
